The attorney working with human resources should know that in some companies, anytime there is an employment law issue, the attorney might need to be present with human resources and the employees involved.

An attorney might need to counsel on meal breaks. In a security company, for instance, guards may not be able to take meal periods if there are no roving guards to take their place while they are on breaks. In this circumstance, the workers might agree to waive their meal periods by agreement. The guards themselves might rather work 8 hours straight, and eat on the job when monitoring people since the work does not require much physical labor.
