The event was held at MR. For those who do not know, MR is a haircutting, shoe shining place for men who want expensive pampering while having a cold drink.
Entering the door, the reception asks visitors to drop a business card to win a bottle of champagne. There are $30 gift card giveaways. At first look, the visitor may think that the establishment is a restaurant, and maybe even think to use the card to return and treat someone to a fine meal. However, after a few moments of observation, the visitor realizes that there is no food served, and that the lowest member price for services seems to be $75.
There were many attorneys who showed. Some who graduated from UC Hastings. Some who worked in environmental law. Some who were losing there hair.
