The buzz for December 2007 includes the 65th annual Golden Globe awards nominees have been announced. The awards will be presented on January 13, 2008 on NBC. According to CNN reports, the Golden Globe awards are often forecast who will win the Academy Awards.

With the Golden Globe awards coming up, there might be some distractions in the work place. People may be going to the gyms to watch tv or to plug in a DVD in their computer. Worker productivity may be affected by the popularity of being able to vote in Internet polls.

Analogous to the Golden Globe awards, attorneys have awards too for public service, being a Super Lawyer, among other recognitions. Those attorneys looking in their mail these days, will see it stuffed with a ballot to vote for the next Super Lawyers of 2008. Those who win Super Lawyer recognition capitalize on the marks by making a statement in their advertising, such as in their LinkedIn profiles. It seems that the Super Lawyer survey is more of a popularity contest among attorneys who have many attorney friends because the surveys are not sent to the public at large so there may be few responses from clients.
