CompeteAmerica.org is a nonprofit that provides information on what is happening to businesses because of the lack of visas.  Every country has a certain amount of visas available to them.  For example, someone from Iceland may be able to get a visa easier than someone from China because there are not many people from Iceland applying for visas. 

Citizen is not the factor in applying for visas.  It is based on place of birth.  Though, someone who marries someone from a place of birth that is different from his/her own may use the spouse’s place of birth in the application process. 

There are questions on immigrants making the economy more vibrant.  Some argue that immigrants do not take jobs away from those in the U.S.  Rather, they create jobs because they are usually hired for specialized work.  This creates more jobs and buying around them.
