The buzz for November 5, 2007 is that Google is entering the business of cell phones with a new Google phone system. Google announced on November 5, 2007 that it is developing a free cell phone software package. Just the other day, an attorney having dinner at the Cliff House, near the Beach Chalet, in San Francisco, CA was talking it up on the free cost of calling someone domestic though that person had a number with a non-local area code. The attorney was saying that free calling has not gone international yet, but there is voice over IP gaining popularity.
It seems that Google won't be making the phones, but it will work with four cell phone manufacturers who have agreed to use Google's programs in their handsets. Will this making international dialing less expensive? It seems that technology will help bring down the communication costs for everyone except the phone companies? How will attorneys respond to this technology? It seems these days many people cannot leave their phones behind and even carry them to a meeting in the next room.
