The anniversary brings up several issues on the business purposes of the Sputnik. Some common people comment that when the government invests in space and discovery of other planets, the moon, or astronomy in general that it is a waste of money. Why invest in the study of astronomy and planets when the government should be putting its money into the people, creating jobs, improving the economy?
Perhaps most people do not look in the discovery of other planets, astronomy as developments in technology. Those attorneys working in high technology may be able to see more easily that projects such as the Sputnik lead to other technology breakthroughs because it leads to environmental studies, and product developments that may be used on earth.
