On October 29, 2007, Fenwick & West LLP in Palo Alto, CA hosted an event by CBA entitled Nano for Bio:  How to build a business from my nanotechnology.

The event did not have a big turnout, and the mixing was difficult because the guests sat around a table instead of standing up in a room to allow for mingling.  There were few refreshments, but Fenwick & West did offer its Tazo tea and machine coffee and cocoa.

The presentation featured Dr. William Lee, a founder, president, CEO of eMembrane, Inc.  eMembrane, Inc. is a nano biomaterials science company.  The presentation focused on commercializing electron-beam.  For the attorneys who know about science, the lecture was not difficult to follow.  Some guests even took notes to show interest.  For the attorney who does not know about science, Lee, a former R & D Director of AST Products, Inc. may have gone over people’s heads with his background on membranes for protein separation, and microbial cell removal.  Lee knows about patents, and has participated in 14 patent applications.
