With all the stories on spouses killing each other going back to Scott Peterson, and spouses attacking each other such as with Juanita Bynum, there may be wonder as to the legal protections of people’s mental and physical health during marriage. Does marriage automatically give someone security such that they can abuse their mates without much fear? How do these cases affect marriage when people fear strangers so much that though they want to get to know others, they are not trusting enough to disclose their phone numbers, addresses, and sometimes their real names?
The Juanita Bynum story also affects the image of women. She inspired women's empowerment. By being attacked, will women lose spiritual hope? For business women, Bynum’s experience demonstrates how important it is for women to speak up when they want a promotion or raise. To be business savvy, it may not always be taking what is the standard in a company, but researching the industry and presenting the industry average for a manager to review.
