Harvard Magazine had an article by Craig Lambert on how to become a high achiever through understanding anger and sadness. Lambert wrote that strong feelings overwhelmed reason, judgment, perspective.
He wrote that few attorneys got or gave apologies, yet in ordinary human affairs, a sincere apology was often worth more than the other person. He wrote of Daniel Goleman and his studies on high intellects such as doctors and lawyers. Goleman’s studies showed that attorneys were in the high IQ because of their abilities to pass the bar, but that likability and trustworthiness were the human qualities that made people rainmakers. For instance, clients usually wanted more than money from settled suits. They wanted to know they were right.
A good connection was mutual. One way empathy, like when someone abused another, was not healthy. Meditation might help someone become mindful.
