The beginning attorney in litigation may be in for the mundane when asked to research time computations.  For instance, there is a California civil procedure section on tolling for holidays.  Holidays in general toll the performance until the next business day.  A case on the subject is Mitsui Mfrs. Bank, 202 Cal. Rptr. 547.

In California, the term holiday means Saturdays, holidays indicated in the California Government Code, Sundays.

Another case on the subject is Drvol v. Bant, hearing denied at the District Court of Appeal, Second District, in 1960.  The case related to an estate where the court held that a nephew filed a creditor’s claim in due time.
