For those attorneys looking for inspiration to live in the moment, they may want to read The Alchemist, written by Paulo Coelho. The Alchemist has many discussions on Muslim practices, and the ways of the Arabs. However, many of the talks are similar to the teachings of Buddhism and Christianity, and perhaps other religions. Reading the biography of Coelho, it turns out that Coelho was not a Muslim, but actually a member of a Catholic group.
The Alchemist is about living out what someone wants to accomplish. The book is fiction, but much of the story seems to be repeated in modern day non-fiction such as The Secret, The Power of Now.
A boy meets a king before going into the dessert to find his treasures. The king tells the boy that when people are young, everything is clear and possible. The young are not afraid to dream, and want everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. As time passes, they begin to think that their dreams are impossible to achieve. This is because along the way to accomplishing the dream, obstacles get in the way. Rather than going back to the way things were, what is comfortable, the king advises that the obstacles are not to make people victims of thieves, but to prepare the spirit, will.
