FCC and Wireless Airwaives

The following is not meant to be legal advice.

This week's buzz is about the sale of the wireless airwaves, and decisions on the rules regulating this topic that the FCC is scheduled to make this week.  This topic has been in the news for over a year, and the subject is not new.  Several blogs, and major news providers such as CNN, Associated Press, Washington Post have already written about it.  How will auctioning wireless airwaves affect the general public?

Academics and consumer advocates are pushing federal regulators to set rules that ensure that the airwaves market is fosters innovation and not just sold to wireless carriers.  Google thinks that open airwaves would close the digital divide.  Should the airwaves be auctioned to the biggest bidder?
