The speaker spoke mostly on California law, with a mix of Illinois and New York differences.

First, the speaker defined damages and restitution, and advised the audience not to assume that the words in insurance policies have the same meaning as plain English.  People must look into the interpretation of words via case studies.  He also advised that meanings to words used in insurance change.
