Polar Rose, a facial recognition search engine, is in beta now, soon to launch what many may deem to be an invasion of privacy. It is a tagging system for photos found on the web. Knowing that there is a privacy issue, Polar Rose has a web page dedicated to the point.
However, the awareness does not stop Polar Rose from launching its service. The service does not index private photos, but what about someone tagging a photo that is meant to be private? Some people do not know to ask permission when they post photos. For instance, a friend wanting to show that he is social may post a photo of himself along with others on a match.com profile. Would he ask everyone in the photo for permission before posting?
