During the interview with King, the interviewer quoted that King once said men usually start thinking about women’s rights only after they have a daughter. She said that in order to change society on the Title IX subject, a person needs to change everyone’s hearts and minds in order for people to match the legislation.
King worked in starting the Women’s Tennis Association. The interviewer asked why women needed a separate association. The association began in order to allow all players to play at the same terms whether they were pro or amateur. Men had their own association so they had one voice, but they did not include women. Women had fewer opportunities to play competitively even when it was not for money. King hoped that in the next five years, the men and women associations may join forces to be one. King believes in equal rights for men and women.
