This Stacy Snyder incident on MySpace just goes to show that a person’s online and offline presentations matter. People might be wary of how their online life can be easily revealed to others outside of their circle of friends when they post blogs, photos, and sign up for social networks. For instance, a registration on Match.com is visible whenever a person searches for the screen name of an individual.
People might also be wary of what is written about them. It appears that there are many sites for cyber slamming where a person who did not act the most polite in the offline world gets written up in the online world. Take the example of restaurants owners who do not provide good service or tasty food. In the old days, owners would have several weeks after an opening to be reviewed by a professional food critic. These days, any customer can go onto a site like Yelp to discuss his/her experience.
