The District of Columbia Bar Foundation reports that it awarded $2.89 Million for legal services to support civil legal services for the poor in the District of Columbia. The funds are to increase the number of lawyers handling housing issues for the poor, and those who do not speak English.  There will be multi-language services.  The grants bring more lawyers into neighborhoods to expand health and children projects.  Women will be empowered against violence.   Mentally ill inmates and Elders will be able to seek the legal help they need.
