Compared to early neutral evaluation, mediation may be expensive because a mediation could cost $400 - $500 per hour. In early neutral evaluation, an experienced employment attorney evaluates a case when the case involves employment laws, and tries to get each side to settle. The procedures are at no charge. The neutral tells each side to settle by telling each side its likelihood of winning when it goes to trial. The plaintiff may decide to settle because the plaintiff has costs that adds up when it starts to front court costs for litigating.
