The crosscurrents of politics and personalities are themes in the press. These issues are central to the address by the Attorney General of the United States on the legal responses to terrorism. The event was held in Sacramento.  The speaker exemplified the ethical obligation of speaking truth to power, even when the view expressed is unpopular. John Sims, a law school professor, led a critique of Administration actions and the audience posed questions to the Attorney General. The visit reminded that in the United States diverse opinions are encouraged. The presentation highlighted the need to understand the legal issues raised by the nation's response to terrorism.

To follow this ethics subject, Dreyer, Babich, Buccola & Callaham, LLP will be sponsoring the 2nd Annual National Ethics Competition on March 15-17, 2007, with 16 law school teams invited to the Sacramento Federal Courthouse to demonstrate persuasive advocacy skills, professional trial conduct, and knowledge of ethical considerations.
