Checking out some other states on the status of exemptions for computer professionals, New York and Michigan seem to follow closely to the FLSA definition and standards.

In Michigan, there is a salary threshold of $250 per week.  If an employee is covered by both state and federal laws, the federal salary and duties requirements apply.  Michigan does not recognize the computer professional or the highly compensated employee.  Computer professionals in Michigan are non-exempt, unless they would otherwise qualify as exempt executive, administrative, or professional employees according to  Mich. Stat. Ann. §17.255, §408.384.  Though, Michigan recognizes overtime exemptions for bona fide executive, administrative, or professional employees.
