The San Francisco Chronicle reported on
The Washingtonienne case should be an interesting case to follow for those who want to know if they can sue others who expose their private lives in online web diaries. In Washingtonienne, Cutler wrote about her sexual relationships, including relationship with Steinbuch. Ana Marie Cox, a former editor of the web site Wonkette.com discovered Cutler’s blog, and linked to it, leading to numerous readers.
In the lawsuit, Steinbuch claimed he was humiliated. It will be interesting to find out how a court will rule on whether people are obligated to protect the privacy of the people they interact with when they want to reveal their lives, photos, videos to the world. The case will have implications on social networking sites such as MySpace, YouTube, and Facebook.
