The California legislature passed a two-step increase in California’s minimum wage. Effective January 1, 2007, the minimum wage in California will increase from $6.75 to $7.50 per hour. On January 1, 2008, California’s minimum wage will increase to $8.00 per hour.

California employers are required to post new state minimum wage posters and revised wage orders when changes become effective.

Effective January 1, 2007, the minimum hourly wage required to qualify for the California computer software exemption increased to $49.77 for each hour worked (up from $47.81 per hour in 2006).
