On November 21, 2006, Nancy Blachman, who produced Google Guide, spoke in Santa Clara, CA on how to use Google to get more potential clients to visit a web site. Blachman used Google since spring 1999 when Google was less than one year old. She obtained a B.S. in Applied Math from the University of Birmingham, UK, a MS in Computer Science from Stanford University, and a MS in Operations Research from University of California, Berkeley.

The Google Guide should be helpful to attorneys who own their own firms and businesses. Blachman discussed how to get a site to the Top 10 Google hits by making changes in a site's design. For instance, Google considers the text in the URL when indexing the page so design names of pages to reflect what is on the page by replacing unhelpful names with descriptive names. She advised to present information in more than one way such as in printable files, time lines, quizzes. Her other tips included linking to search results, advertising on a web site, generating revenue by using Google AdSense. When linking, the one way to find the correct encoding was to type a query into a Google search box, run the search, and look at the resulting URL in the web browser. Then, copy and past the parts needed from the URL into HTML code.
