106 Miles held a meeting on December 14, 2006 in Menlo Park, CA to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of working at a big company versus small company.  The meeting included a pizza and salad dinner, and a panel of speakers with experience working at both brand name and start up companies.

One of the prior speakers, Scott Johnston, posted a blog on stock options, which might be interesting to read for those thinking of jumping to a start up from a big company. 

Those who worked at big companies indicated advantages of a brand name which people associated with quality because positions at big companies were considered difficult to obtain.  Big companies had discussions lists such as internal blogs for criticism, and resources for one to pioneer opportunities.  For example, there was more access to data and users for someone experiment with.
