Warner Chilcott Part I
In October 2006, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) entered into a settlement with Warner Chilcott to resolve a court challenge by the FTC in November 2005 to an agreement whereby Warner Chilcott paid Barr Pharmaceuticals $20 million to delay for five years Barr Pharmaceuticals' introduction of a generic version of Ovcon, an oral contraceptive.

Barr Pharmaceuticals previously stated that it would enter the market upon FDA approval of its generic Ovcon, but Warner Chilcott projected that generic entry would erode half of its branded sales. The parties asserted that the payment was for a legitimate back-up supply arrangement in which Barr Pharmaceuticals would manufacture Ovcon for Warner Chilcott when necessary.
