Ed Brackenbury spoke about relationships in Menlo Park, CA on November 26, 2006. During the talk, he noted that everyone was in transition – ending relationships, beginning relationships, enjoying freedom from relationships.
Those with incomplete endings might carry dysfunctional patterns into future relationships. These people might have difficulty feeling safe or getting close to others. These people might be afraid to be real because they do not think others will like them.Brackenbury advised that relationships were not meant for one person to complete another, but for one person to complement another. Successful relationships occurred when people committed themselves to helping others and appreciating differences. Each person allowed the other person to be a leader and in control.
