On November 6, 2006, the Chinese Software Professionals Association (CSPA) hosted an event on The New Age of Influence: The Impact of Social Computing on Media and Marketing in Palo Alto, CA.

CSPA gathered leaders in social computing for food, networking, and insight on blogs, RSS feeds, podcasts, shared video, social networks, and wikis. These are all new communication techniques that make mindshare more effective and take over traditional media, such as radio, print, and television.

The event addressed questions relating to: professional and personal benefits in joining social networks such as LinkedIn, Technorati; how can companies leverage social network to promote their products effectively and develop customer relationships; and how to structure a balanced public relations and marketing campaign.
