Loving Kindness Meditation

The attorney who practices lovingkindness meditation may learn to better communicate with others as a result of being more open and friendly towards oneself and others.

The practice taught at Spirit Rock in Woodacre, CA involves letting go of plans and preoccupations. The participants recite phrases of happiness, peace, ease to themselves, and then to others. The practice requires patience and focus on people in the lives of the participants. After reciting loving kindness to those who care, the participants are slowly able to include the difficult people in their lives. This allows the individuals to relax and remain alert in the midst of problems.

Loving kindness meditation requires sitting and feeling body sensations. The participants notice the sounds, thoughts, expectations present. The participants focus on their breaths when they are carried away by their feelings. They learn to let feelings be as they are whether they are painful or joyful.

Loving kindness meditation allows people to be at ease and respond to life with compassion.
