On September 30, 2006, the Starlite Dance Club in Sunnyvale, CA gave introductory lessons on Cha Cha and Rumba.

Not knowing the steps made the beginners look foolish on the dance floor, but dancing taught people, including business and legal professionals, to conquer their fears of the unknown, and to remember how important it was to take the first step.

Dance included many benefits. First, there were social benefits. Dance required people to rotate partners. Those at the dance were able to meet more people than at other activities such as happy hours, health clubs, or business seminars. Dance gave an immediate connection versus the need for icebreakers at most events.
Dance provided exercise and weight loss. As people lost weight, they gained flexibility, coordination, focus, and posture.

Dance offered confidence because those involved became more comfortable with themselves as they conquered their doubts and fears of meeting people, learning dance steps, or taking actions to better themselves. The effort gained provided hope when tackling other obstacles in life.

Dance gave self expression, not only visual from understanding body language, but verbal from partner introductions. Dance provided expressive opportunities that went beyond those available to people who hid themselves in their cubicles or offices throughout the work day.
