On October 13, 2006, Greg Santora presented to attorneys in Redwood City, CA on the expectations of chief financial officers (CFOs) when working with in house attorneys.

CFOs look for an attorney that can be a partner. The attorney must be able to perform duties effectively, participate in executive meetings regardless or organizational reporting.

The attorney should be proactive and be aware of information needed to comply with legal requirements 1 to 3 quarters into the future. The attorney needs business acumen to understand the company’s business models and risks. The attorney should be a confidant in order to have access to executive staff strategy sessions.
