In his book Happiness is an Inside Job, John Powell writes about anger and relaxation. Anger is a matter of habit. When someone is stuck, he/she is in pain. In order to get over anger, one needs to recognize and revise his/her responses to the world which itself cannot be changed.

Relaxation comes from recognizing stress. Resenting someone makes a person a slave to another. The other person will be in the mind in the morning, afternoon, night. The other person will ruin one’s digestion, concentration, the good times, and deprive one of peace and joy. Happiness is put into the hands of another. Release the other person in order to take back the power by being sympathetic rather than critical. In the end, who really knows why that other person acted or said the subject that created one’s resentment.
