The smallest compromise may lead to major destruction. A life of compromises, even when there are acts of goodness turns someone into a compromising person. It is the kind of person someone becomes that is more at risk than the specific acts.

As the Enron Corp. trials of Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling are reported in the press, observe that rarely do financial scandals begin with major indiscretions. They usually begin small, slight, secretive, and grow over time as the activities chip away at the character of the people involved.

Money gives significance and security, but wealth becomes worthless when the priority of integrity is misplaced. Perhaps the goal is not to achieve financial security, but to achieve freedom from financial insecurity.
