Thinking Outside the Box

Some obstacles are of our own making. We undermine ourselves, make assumptions about what is possible that restrict our choices, let fears stop us from trying to reach goals. Get unstuck by not thinking and doing things the same old way.

Listening

Listening is more powerful than talking. Listen to let people reflect on their own wisdom so they can hear themselves clearly. Focus on them.

Fear

Feel the fear and do it anyway. If we wait until there is no fear to proceed, we miss many opportunities. Take action while being afraid. Commit to taking action. Create forward momentum. No one can give you what you deny yourself. Drowning It is okay to drown. It is not okay to get eaten. Don’t give up when options are not exhausted. All of the events of life thus far are cemented, and there is nothing you can do to change them. But, as you look forward, the concrete doesn’t harden until you pass that point.

Perspective

Be mentally flexible. Learn different reactions by learning different attitudes. Be objective. If you have no opinion, you will have an open mind. Do not hold certain beliefs inside. Change your perspective so that your exterior changes. See different sides to things. See things from the other person’s point of view.
