Electronic discovery is a corporate counsel's worst nightmare. In simpler times, (what, two or three years ago?), you had to worry about paper, intranets, laptop and desktop computers, PDA's, and servers. Today, you also have to worry about the blogs, the wiki's, the podcasts, and all of those other cool things the Web 2.0 companies keep throwing at tech-hungry business executives.
Worse still, the demands of electronic discovery impose on you the burden of knowing more about IT than ever before. What backup solutions does the company use? When does it use them? Does it use tapes? If so, where are they kept? Can a gazillion pages really fit on that tiny, tiny disk? What do you mean the disk is full!?? Meta-what?
How do you deal with this morass? There are some great resources out there--it's just a matter of finding them. Let me give you some ideas:
-
Dennis Kennedy, a practitioner and consultant, offers a range of free and useful resources on electronic discovery. At his website, you'll find his blog, links to his Electronic Discoverers column and Free On-Demand Webinars on Electronic Discovery as well as an extensive list of Electronic Discovery Resources.
-
DiscoveryResources.org offers an amazing amount of useful information for corporate counsel. Here, you'll find current electronic discovery news, articles from the nation's most respected experts, and an event calendar.
-
Preston Gates Ellis LLP maintains a blog, aptly named Electronic Discovery Law, that includes case summaries, events, and best of all, a fully searchable E-Discovery Case Database.
Do you know of other useful e-discovery resources? Tell us about them.
